Upcoming Transit Strike: How to Optimize Your Travels

_WR_4443

As you may know, a public transit strike has been announced and will disrupt STM services in the coming days. Even though a minimum level of service will be maintained, some of your trips may become more complicated. If you’re unable to adjust your schedule to take advantage of available service times, work from home or adopt active mobility (walking, personal bike or BIXI), carsharing can offer you a complementary solution.

FLEX or station-based: Vehicles are available

We’re doing everything we can to maximize the availability of our 4,500 vehicles on the streets of Montreal. Check the app frequently, as FLEX cars may appear near you throughout the day. As for reservation vehicles, regular checks can pay off—cancellations happen more often than you’d think. Also, check the booking grid in your online account to see if you can squeeze in between two reservations.

Share your rides with the community

In this exceptional period, solidarity among carsharers can make a real difference. Carpooling groups, Amigo Express Local, and even the Spotted: Communauto Facebook group are great bulletin boards to help you coordinate ride-sharing with other users. It’s a great way to ease pressure on the fleet, and most of all, strengthen local support networks.

Take advantage of our FLEX Passes for multiple trips

If you need to make several stops or trips during the day, our FLEX Passes can help you manage costs while keeping flexibility—especially outside of peak hours.

And most importantly…

Montreal is fortunate to have a wide range of transportation solutions. In addition to carsharing, several other options remain available to help you stay on track with your activities:

  • BIXI: With over 10,000 self-service bikes, BIXI is an excellent option for short, dynamic trips.
  • Personal bike: The many bike paths and good weather make cycling pleasant and efficient.
  • Taxis and ride-hailing services: Consider local taxi companies, like Téo Taxi—an electric alternative—for one-off trips.

This diversity is the strength of our city. By smartly combining these options, we can continue to move around with ease.

A city needs strong public transit!

This exceptional situation is also a chance to remember that public transportation is a fundamental pillar of urban mobility. Carsharing is here to support you, but it’s a complement to public transportation, not a substitute. More than ever, we believe in shared, diverse mobility that’s accessible to all.

Thank you for your trust!
