Electric vehicles available to everyone!

On January 16th, Communauto expanded the access to electric vehicles to all its users, who can now take advantage of the largest fleet of self-serve electric vehicles in Canada.

To reserve these new vehicles, the Nissan LEAF, you must do a brief online training accessible from your RÉSERVAUTO account. This new phase follows a five months trial period, during which 200 beta-testers helped Communauto perfect operating procedures and communication tools related to this new technology. Thank you to all who volunteered!

Winter being a trying time for the batteries of the electric vehicles, Communauto has, as a precaution, chosen to introduce rather restrictive usage rules for these vehicles. For now, the maximum period of a reservation is of one day (between 7 Am and 11 PM), to ensure sufficient charging time during the night. In addition, only trips of 70 km or less will be accepted to reduce the risks associated to the driving range of the vehicles.

"My locations" now replaces "My preferred stations" in RÉSERVAUTO

As it was announced in the last Écho-Mobile, a new function has appeared in RÉSERVAUTO. When you reserve a communauto online, you can now do an availability search based on the places that you have chosen. This function now replaces the My preferred stations option, which will soon disappear from your screen, and for the better! Your availability searches will include all stations in the vicinity, as well as new stations that you may be unaware of. A new simple function which offers greater flexibility.

To add locations:
Sign in to RÉSERVAUTO, and go to the Personal information page. Under the section My locations, click on the Add button. A map will appear on your screen in which you can enter the new location's address.

To choose a new location during a reservation:
Once you are on the page Add a reservation, choose your location in the second drop down menu under Sort order (step 2). Once you have selected your location, stations in the vicinity will be searched.
